The latest album of Matthew Dear was released in Fall 2010 on Ghostly International, and followed throught 2011 with two single releases : Slowdance, and Little People (on Spectral label). All shared a dark ambience, with striking images ranging from portrait to abstract, with a special note for the typography on the LP. But the story goes beyond these cover designs with the first of Ghostly's "Totems".

Beyond the covers, Ghostly asked famous designers Constantin & Loren Boym of Boym Partners, in New York, to imagine something unusual to create a specific relationship between the artist and listenners. Here comes the MDBC Totem, first of its kind. This object, (only 100 copies available) is a small and enigmatic sculpture, which shape recalls the dark buildings the album evocates. It is hand-made in bonded aluminum, with a gun metal patina.
It is only tagged with the letters "MDBC" and a four characters suffix that allows the owner to have access online to specific informations, to stream or download the album, and receive an exclusive track. The idea is of course to give the digital music a physical existence that satisfies the pleasure of owning a piece that links you with the artist.
